Let Your Love Flow is a country pop song composed by Larry E. Williams and first released by Gene Cotton in October 1975 . The track was then released on January 24, 1976 by the Bellamy Brothers as a single in the US and became their first major success. Jürgen Drews was also very successful with his cover version Ein Bett im Kornfeld, released in April 1976 .

Emergence

Williams, who worked as a roadie in Neil Diamond's backing band, had originally composed the title for Diamond. Since the latter refused the piece, however, he first offered the song to Gene Cotton, who released it as a single without much success, but then to his friends, the Bellamy Brothers, who finally made the piece a worldwide success. On the B-side of the single was Inside My Guitar . The producers were Phil Gernhard and Tony Scotti. A subsequently produced album of the same name also sold very well.

Chart successes

The version by the Bellamy Brothers immediately made it to number one in the charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the USA, to number seven in Great Britain and also to the top ten in other countries. In the United States, the song also reached number 21 on the country charts , and in Canada the song also made it to the country charts. In 2008, Let Your Love Flow was used in Great Britain as a promotional song for the Barclaycard , where it again took 21st place in the charts when it was re-released as a download version.

In the German-speaking countries there was an equally successful cover version, Ein Bett im Kornfeld , sung by Jürgen Drews and produced by Werner Schüler. The German text is by Michael Kunze . The Bellamy Brothers were at the top of the German charts for five weeks before they were replaced by the German cover version. Overall, the song was able to stay at number one in the German charts for eleven weeks in a row. In Austria, the German version took second place and in Switzerland third place on the charts. The stupid version Ein Korn im Feldbett by Fips Asmussen reached number 35 in the German single charts in 1976.
