Kreis was an East German disco and pop band . It was founded in 1973. In the first four years the musical direction of the band was geared towards the Philly sound, later the tracks became rockier and more melodic. In 1982 the band broke up.

history

The band was founded in 1973 by Arnold Murmel Fritzsch . Fritzsch brought his then wife Eva into the band. Gerhard Witte took over the guitar (later went to Winni II ), Matthias Neumann the bass guitar, Uwe Peschke the drums and Peter Rosenhahn the saxophone. In 1974 Rosenhahn left the band and Helmut Sickel took over the bass guitar for Neumann. In 1978 the band recorded an English-language album on the Czechoslovak record label Supraphon . Dean Reed had translated most of the texts into English.

Arnold and Eva Fritzsch re-formed the band in 1979 because they wanted to be a little more rocky and melodic. Wolfgang Nicklisch (later went to the Modern Soul Band , tuxedos ) took over from Witte, Dietmar Stephan (later went to electra ) came for Peschke and Jörg Dobbersch (went to the Modern Soul Band, tuxedos) took over from Sickles.

Arnold Fritzsch was always the musical head of the band. After her dissolution he continued to work as a musician and composer and wrote melodies for Wolfgang Lippert , Arnulf Wenning and Ines Paulke , with whom he worked until her death.
