Hello Again is a German-language hit song that was sung by Howard Carpendale and reached the top ten in the German , Swiss and Austrian charts. It is one of Carpendale's most famous songs.

Origin and text

The song was written by Carpendale together with Irma Holder and Joachim Horn-Bernges and produced by Carpendale together with Dieter Weidenfeld . Originally the song was called Alone Again . When Carpendale played it along with four or five other songs by his wife at the time and asked her which one she thought was best, she decided on this one, but had understood Hello Again in the chorus . Carpendale pointed out the misunderstanding, but she said: "But Hello Again is nicer when you've been away for a year." Carpendale only had to say: "You're not wrong." According to Carpendale, the song came with the changed one Text "hit the market and went off like a rocket."

So the song begins with "I was without you for a year / I needed this time for myself ..." The protagonist walks down the street and still sees light in the room of the loved one, decides despite doubts to visit them again.

He comes back to his loved one after apparently leaving her for a surprisingly long time. On his way to her apartment, in which he can still see the lights burning at night, he gets scared of what will happen if he faces her. Nevertheless, he is filled with hope and longing to find the reliability and home that he has left.
