Paul Spiess (born July 31, 1924 - † June 26, 2001 ) was a Swiss women's handball coach and pioneer of women's handball in Switzerland.
Career
Spiess began to play handball on the large field with the athletics section Brühl (LAS). A year later he joined SC Brühl.
Between 1952 and 61 he was the player-coach of the men's team and trainer of the St. Gallen women's handball club (DHC).
Between 1969 and 1979 he was champion eleven times with the women.
Between 1960 and 1965 he was Vice-President and then President until 1970. He was then elected an honorary member.
The Swiss women's national handball team was founded in 1971 as a result of his efforts . He was a member of the central board of the SHV from 1982 to 1986 and then became an honorary member of the SHV.
