Ribbon clover

In the course of the new beginning in 2002, the band renamed itself to Klee .

According to Suzie Kerstgens, the naming was inspired by the works of Paul Klee , but it also refers to the clover leaf as a symbol of luck. With the renaming, there was also a change in style from guitar pop to electro pop . Since the album Jelängerjelieber and especially in the live performances, where the band is reinforced by guitar, bass and drums, elements of rock have also come to the fore, whereas the following albums also have references to chanson .

Songs

All songs were written by Tom Deininger, Suzie Kerstgens and Sten Servaes and some lyrics were created in collaboration with Tom Liwa . The lyrics of the albums show a wide range of human feelings and reflect them in poetic form. The affirmation of life is a tenor of all albums ( for everyone who, love me life, not always but now, take your life in your hand ) and they contain songs that encourage courage ( 2 questions, I'll leave a light on for you, mine Trust, imagine ).

The theme of love runs through all publications. Be it as a romanticizing ode to their healing power ( gold, because it's love, you and me, out of breath, do you want to stay with me ) or as a comforting aid in dealing with farewell, pain and death ( wish-free, at the end of love, Move mountains, goodbye ). The variety of topics always relates to moments of living together. In the songs, the two levels of human experience are linked: the real conditions and the unreal dreams , wishes and longings.

instrumentation

In terms of instrumentation, the band has continued to develop. The first album Invulnerable was created almost exclusively on the computer and is part of electronic pop music. The instrumentation of the follow-up album Jelängerjelieber was significantly expanded: guitar, drums, bass and Rhodes were given significant weight both on the studio album and in live performances. On the third album Zwischen Himmel und Erde , which is more likely to be attributed to the genre of guitar pop, string arrangements were integrated for the first time, as the lyrics are also ballad-like. These arrangements were implemented even more opulently on the fourth album Berge Versetzen . The latest album Aus lauter Liebe shows a turn to the chanson and a significant expansion of the instrumentation z. B. cello, french horn, banjo, accordion, double percussion and mandolin. The album Aus lauter Liebe was produced for the first time in collaboration with Olaf Opal and Jochen Naaf .
