album Great freedom - winter edition

Winter is the first and only single release by the German music group Unheilig from their sixth EP Große Freiheit - Winter Edition. Many people also know the song under the name Winterland , which was the original name of the single, at the video premiere the song was still called Winterland, the song was also advertised under this name on the website, but after about two weeks the single only became still sold under the name Winter. The reason for this was a legal dispute with the band Winterland from Kaiserslautern , who had registered this made-up word with the patent office as a trademark since 1998. The original cover of the Unheilig CD, a single leafless tree in a winter landscape, was very reminiscent of a cover by the band Winterland . After an exchange of letters between the two bands' lawyers, the Unheilig record company signed a cease and desist declaration; then the title was renamed and the cover motif changed.

The first release took place on November 19, 2010 in Germany and Austria, in Switzerland the single was released two days later on November 21, 2010. The song was written by the Count and produced by Hendrik Kersten, Jens Rodenberg and Kiko Masbaum. There are two different covers, one shows the Count walking out of a forest on a winter evening with a full moon (winter edition) and the other only shows a bare tree standing in front of a mountain backdrop (Winterland Edition). In addition to the single version, the B-side (both for Winterland and Winter) also contains a 5:17 minute piano version of the song. To date, over 150,000 copies of the song have been sold.

song

The song describes the beautiful and positive sides of winter time. On one side the beautiful winter landscape is described and on the other side the warmth of mankind, which moves together in winter time.

Music video

The music video premiered in early November and you can see a little boy building a winter landscape in his room by himself. You can alternately see the Count walking through this winter landscape built by the little boy and singing the song. The video was directed by Markus Gerwinat.
