From person to person , the ninth and final is album of the German pop-rock - band Unholy . The limited deluxe version of the album includes the eighth video album One last time .

Creation and artwork

All pieces on the album were written jointly by Count, Markus Tombülle and Henning Verlage . The songs were produced by Thorsten Brötzmann, Roland Spremberg , Markus Tombülle and Henning Verlage in the Principal Studios in Senden , with most of the pieces being produced jointly by Tombält and Verlage, Brötzmann only produced two and Spremberg only one song. The album was mastered in the TrueBusyness Studios in Berlin , under the direction of Sascha “Busy” Bühren. The mixing took place under the direction of Olsen Involtini . The album was released under the Vertigo / Capitol label and distributed by Fansation Musikverlag and Universal Music Publishing .

On the cover of the album - in addition to the artist name and album title - a comic representation of the count can be seen during a ride in a hot air balloon . The hot air balloon and the count stand out a bit. Inside the Limited-Deluxe-Version there is a 22-page booklet with lyrics and concert pictures and a fan poster of the Count, which was put together from many small fan pictures. For this purpose, the fans were able to send in a picture of themselves and a farewell greeting to the Count and Unheilig online in advance. The photographs in the booklet are from Janice Mersiovsky and Erik Weiss. The artwork and the illustrations of the cover and the booklet come from the Dirk Rudolph office .

Publication and promotion

The first publication of Person to person took place on 4 November 2016 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The album consists of 16 new studio recordings, with one song previously featured on the previous MTV Unplugged . In addition to the regular album release, a “limited deluxe version” was released at the same time. This includes a bonus DVD with nine live recordings and four impressions. There was no official single release, only two poetry videos for I would like you to visit (release: September 9, 2016) and My Life is Freedom (release: October 7, 2016) were released in advance . Both tracks, together with the piece Von Mensch zu Mensch, were already available for download from October 28, 2016 for those who digitally pre-ordered the album.

Background information

On August 2, 2016, the Graf published an open letter to all Unheilig fans, in which he described the motivation for the album. In this, the count went back to the past years, thanked for the numerous support and explained that it was difficult for him to put the time and especially the emotions in words that could properly express this incredible time and his gratitude to them Fans can describe from the heart. Music has always been his language and so he would like to thank all Unheilig fans with music as his language. He wants to dedicate the album as a person, to them, to his fans as people.

content

All the lyrics on the album are in German and, like the compositions, were written jointly by the Count, Markus Tombülle and Henning Verlage. All pieces are new compositions, only the piece One in Millions appeared in advance. The song was created while working on the previous studio album Gipfelstürmer , but didn't make it onto the album at the time. The song was published for the first time as part of MTV Unplugged last year. The title Auf ein Last Mal (Intro) is a purely instrumental piece . Musically, the songs move in the field of pop-rock . All pieces are sung specially by Unheilig front man the Count.

Reviews

Laut.de's music editors only gave the album one of five stars. Johannes Jimeno from laut.de described the album in the following words: The instrumental pieces Auf ein Last Mal and Für alle Zeit are surrounded by a work of disgusting pop music with melodramatic viola and shallow strings. In the remaining 14 songs, the count would celebrate everything bad from Schlager , Goth and Pop . Lyrically, this 70-minute ordeal is boring, uninspired and mercilessly bombastic. The pieces I would like to visit you and whalers away are particularly bad . Jimeno describes the two titles as a criminal offense. I would like to visit you, be maltreated with a disgusting emotional slump and he describes whalers as a freak from Rammstein and Tokio Hotel bonds.

The German-language music website jpc.de rated the album with 3.8 / 5 stars.

The album was also rated very badly by Plattentests.de . The e-zine only awarded one out of ten points. Pascal Bremmer from plattentests.de complained, among other things, of the "pompous and spooky guitar riffs", "pop-pop melodies", the hymn-like nature and the repeated occurrence of signal words such as "freedom" and "luck".

Charts and chart placements

Von Mensch zu Mensch was the fourth studio album in a row to reach position one in the album charts in Germany and was able to hold its own for one week as well as nine weeks in the top 10 and 22 weeks in the charts. In Austria the album reached position four and stayed in the top 10 for two weeks and in the charts for 19 weeks. In Switzerland, Von Mensch zu Mensch reached position three and stayed in the top 10 for one week and in the charts for 20 weeks. In 2016, the album was placed 29th in the annual German album charts, 69th in Austria and 73rd in Switzerland.

For Unheilig this is the twelfth chart success in Germany, as well as the seventh in Austria and the sixth in Switzerland. It is already her sixth Top 10 success in Germany and Switzerland, and the seventh in Austria. It is her fourth number one success in Germany. It is Unheilig's sixth album that was able to be placed in all DA-CH countries at the same time .
