Sonne is a song by the German EDM music project Schiller , in cooperation with the German rock band Unheilig . The piece is the first single from her seventh studio album, Sonne .

Creation and artwork

The song was written by the Count and Christopher von Deylen . The single was instrumentalized and produced by the latter. The song was released under the Island Records music label . On the yellow-orange cover of the maxi single - next to the inscription of the artist and the song title - a small section of a graphically represented sun can be seen. The artwork for the cover picture is by Sandra Morath and Katja Stier.

Publication and promotion

The first release of Sonne took place on September 21, 2012 in Germany and Iceland . The maxi-single is available for download and as a physical sound carrier. The regular 2-track single contains, in addition to Sonne nach, the song sound worlds as a B-side . An EP released at the same time contains, in addition to the two songs mentioned, a remix version and two instrumental pieces for Sonne . A premium edition of the maxi-single comes with a magnet .

To promote the song, among other things, a joint live appearance by Schiller and the Count followed in the ARD morning magazine .

Music video

The music video for Sonne was shot in the desert of Tabernas ( Andalusia , Spain ) and premiered on September 20, 2012 on Schiller's YouTube account. The total length of the video is 4:27 minutes. Directed by Oliver Sommer, it was produced by AVA Studios . To date, the video has had over 1.5 million clicks on YouTube (as of July 2014), making it Schiller's most-watched music video on YouTube.

The main plot of the music video shows an unknown Spanish woman and an unknown Spaniard. At the beginning, the woman moves lonely through the desert while the man stands in an abandoned house and stares into the desert. Later the man leaves the building and the woman can be seen with a car on a steep slope . Then she continues through the desert where she meets von Deylen in a small settlement. In the end, the two Spaniards meet on the prairie . At first he takes her from behind in his arms, later both can be seen sitting in the car. The video ends with her fleeing to a beach from him. In between, a television can be seen at different locations in the desert, in which you can see the count singing the song.

A few days before the official music video was released, Schiller published an alternative video on his YouTube account. It shows images of the sun that were made by Schiller fans around the world.

In Germany, Sonne reached position twelve in the single charts and stayed in the charts for a total of seven weeks.

For Schiller this is the 15th chart success in Germany. After eleven years, Sonne replaced the joint publication with Peter Heppner and the title Dream of You as Schiller's highest-ranking chart placement. Dream of You reached position 13 on the charts at the time. To date, no single Schillers could place higher in the German charts. For Unheilig this is the ninth chart success in Germany.
