Soleado
Soleado is a song without text that was composed by the Italian Ciro Dammicco and published under his pseudonym "Zacar". With a German text sung by Michael Holm , it was not known in 1974 under the title Tränen Lügen . The melody for the Christmas carol When a Child Is Born has also been adapted.
The song is based on an earlier composition Le rose blu that Ciro Dammicco published in 1972. In 1974 it was recorded by the Daniel Sentacruz Ensemble , of which Dammicco was a member. This version, which is characterized by a melody performed by a choir without a song text ( vocalise ), was placed in the charts of Switzerland, Austria and Sweden among the ten best-selling singles. Different successful cover versions of other artists appeared .
Cover versions
Versions by artists such as Percy Faith , Paul Mauriat or Mireille Mathieu have been recorded. Michael Holm sang the German-language vocal version Tränen nicht Lie , which became a number 1 hit in Germany in 1974 . This put Holm in fourth place in Switzerland and second in the charts in Austria.
The tune was also used for the 1976 Christmas carol When a Child Is Born , sung by Johnny Mathis and a Christmas number one hit in the UK. This track was in turn recorded by Boney M. , Kenny Rogers , Bing Crosby and The Moody Blues , among others . In Hungary in 1978, Zsuzsa Cserháti sang a cover version entitled Édes kisfiam (My sweet little child) . The Italian music group Elio e le Storie Tese performs an independent cover version at their New Year's concerts, which they titled Buon Anno Nuovo ("Happy New Year"). Czech singer Karel Gott sang a cover version titled Měl jsem rád a mám (I loved and still do) .
A parody entitled Danes do not lie wore Otto Waalkes ago on his tours. Hermann Hoffmann ( Meine Herta ) and Udo Jürgens ( coaches don't lie ) published other parodies . In late 1994, Mark 'Oh released an English-language rave version called Tears Don't Lie , which also became a number 1 hit in Germany. Gigi D'Agostino turned the tune of Soleado a trance - Remix .
