Kesseler is a farming community near the Herzfeld district in the municipality of Lippetal , district of Soest , which used to be called Castrum , Castellum and later Keteslere. The name could refer to a not yet found, but known, Roman military camp . Kesseler is on the right-hand side, i.e. north of the Lippe, and is crossed by Kesseler Strasse (L 822) in an east-west direction. In the days of shipping on the Lippe, a lock with a keeper's house was set up here, which is well preserved and is used as a boat lane. Two bridges cross the lock canal and the Lippe towards Oestinghausen .

The St. Agatha Chapel, the now closed Gasthof Kesseler Mühle and the old weir and the remains of the Kesseler lock are worth mentioning. On the opposite side of the lip, old arms of the lip are preserved.

Kesseler is a popular (bicycle) excursion destination thanks to a new restaurant with a beer garden.

The Lippe lock is a frequently used exit and boarding point for tourist boat trips on the Lippe in the summer months.
