Sunshine Quartet

The Sunshine Quartet was a German hit , operetta and hit jazz quartet consisting of four singers with a changing line-up, who were mainly active in the 1950s. Together with the singer Kurt-Adolf Thelen , the Golgowsky Quartet as well as Will Glahé and his wind orchestra, the Sunshine Quartet had a number one hit in Germany in 1954 with the humorous song On May 30, the end of the world is . The Sunshine Quartet also made numerous appearances as singers in various films from the 1950s, including Der Onkel aus Amerika (1953) and Die Fischerin vom Bodensee (1956).

history

The Sunshine Quartet was founded and directed in 1946 by the pianist Erich Werner . The first line-up consisted of Rosi Hofmann, Inge Oberländer, Irm Schröder and Ille Wappler (Ilse Wappler).

In 1955 the quartet separated from Erich Werner and from then on appeared as "The Sunnies", although a few singles were still released under the name Sunshine Quartet.
