Johnny Blue was the German entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 . The song was written by Bernd opinion and Ralph Siegel and interpreted by Lena Valaitis . It reached 132 points and ended up in 2nd place. The conductor and arranger was Wolfgang Rödelberger .
The song is about a blind boy who is learning to play the guitar.
The title was also sung in English; whose text is from Zack Laurence .
In the ZDF hit parade , Johnny Blue was voted second after the broadcast on May 11, 1981 ; Lena Valaitis therefore sang the song again in the following show on June 15, 1981 and again reached number two. This gave her a third appearance on July 13, 1981.
