Georg Kroenig (born April 22, 1856 in Potsdam , † June 15, 1911 in Berlin ) was a German doctor and university professor.

Life

Georg Kroenig studied medicine. During his studies at the University of Strasbourg in 1877 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania . After completing his studies in 1881, he became an assistant at the 1st medical clinic in Berlin with Friedrich Theodor von Frerichs in 1882 . After his death he carried out microscopic studies in Heinrich Wilhelm Waldeyer's laboratory . In 1888 he became an assistant for microscopy in the clinic of Carl Jakob Adolf Christian Gerhardt . In 1888 he completed his habilitation for internal medicine at the University of Berlin. In 1890 he founded a private polyclinic with a laboratory for clinical microscopy attached. In 1894 he became senior physician at the Friedrichshain Hospital . In 1895 he was appointed university professor. Most recently he was a senior physician.

Kroenig published various internal studies. The Kroenig sound fields that result from listening to the lungs were named after him. He also gained fame through the development of scientific devices such as the Roth-Dräger-Krönig anesthetic machine .
