It is a ballad in which a declaration of love is made to the loved one. The song was written by Giancarlo Bigazzi with Tozzi and produced by Bigazzi.

Publication and reception

Ti amo was a hit in many European countries including Italy, Sweden and Switzerland where it topped the charts. Tozzi's version also reached number four in Germany and number three in Austria . A Spanish version was released as Te amo - this was successful in Spain and Latin America .

In 2002, the Tozzi song was re-recorded as a duet with the singer Lena Ka under the title Ti amo (rien que des mots) with Italian and French lyrics. This version was a success in France and Belgium ( Wallonia ), reaching the top three. In August 2014 it was in the list of the best-selling singles in France in the 21st century with 393,000 units sold at number 52. At that time, the original version was re-released and was also quite successful in France.

Version by Howard Carpendale

A German version by Howard Carpendale with a text by Fred Jay was published in German-speaking countries in September 1977 . In this, the protagonist makes the declaration of love after an argument and at the same time reproaches the loved one and separates from her: "I will live, also live without you ... now it will be over, because it has to be". With second place in Germany - and thus higher than the original - and tenth place in Austria, this version also made it into the top ten. It was Carpendale's highest single chart placement in Germany to date. On the B-side of the single is the song Every color is beautiful .
