Lea (born July 9, 1992 in Kassel ; real name: Lea-Marie Becker ; spelling: LEA) is a German singer-songwriter and keyboardist .

life and career

The daughter of a music therapist passed the Abitur examination at the Jacob-Grimm-Schule in Kassel. At the age of 15, she began posting videos with Pianopop on YouTube using her first name Lea-Marie . Her ballad Where Did Love Go has been clicked more than 2.8 million times (as of June 2020). After finishing school in Kassel, she spent six months in Argentina , where she worked in an institution for children. This experience inspired her to write the song Do you know that . She studies music and special education in Hanover .

After her interpretation of the Hildegard Knef title So everything has its sense was featured on the compilation album Für Hilde in 2015 , the label Four Music released her debut album Vacuum in 2016 . In it she processed her first relationship and the feeling of not knowing where you are at home. Lea writes music texts about traveling and being on the move. Many of her songs are inner monologues in which she asks herself questions that often go unanswered.

Her lyrics are about love, friendship and loneliness.

Lea was on stage in 2016 with Glasperlenspiel and Seven . In 2017 she went on tour for the first time, accompanied by Frederic Michel (drums, e-drums and musical director) and supported by Hannes Porombka (guitar and synthesizer). In the same year she performed at the Early Spring Singer Songwriter Festival in Saalfelden (Austria).

A remix of Where do you want to go? , in collaboration with the German DJ duo Gestört aber GeiL , reached number eleven in the German single charts in 2017 and number 43 in Austria.Also with Gestört aber GeiL she recorded Be My Now , which served as the theme song of the eighth season of the Bachelor's program . Their singing can be heard there. This English-language song is in contrast to their music, which is otherwise written in German.

On June 22, 2018 Lea released Zu dir, the third single from Between My Lines . The single reached its highest chart rating in the German single charts at position 54 and was able to stay in the charts for a total of 21 weeks. In January 2020, the piece was awarded a gold record for 200,000 units sold. In August 2018, the song Always when we see each other was released , which she recorded together with actor Aaron Hilmer ( role name Cyril ) for the film The Most Beautiful Girl in the World . Another collaboration appeared in September 2019 with 110 . This collaboration with Capital Bra and Samra reached number one in the German single charts.

Lea is a participant in the 7th season of Sing my song - The exchange concert .

She lived in Hanover until 2018 , which she addresses in Lieber alone , a song about a long-distance relationship between Hanover and Valencia in Spain. She has lived in Berlin since 2018 .
