To you is a song by the German pop singer Lea . The piece is the third single from her second studio album Between My Lines .

Creation and artwork

About you was written by Lea herself - under her real name "Lea-Marie Becker" - together with the co-authors Mark Cwiertnia ( Mark Forster ), Michael Geldreich and Alexander Knolle. The production was carried out specially by Geldreich, with the help of the co-producer Knolle, who was responsible in particular for the vocal production. The mastering was done by the Karlsruhe-based 24-96 Mastering, under the direction of Robin Schmidt. The piece was mixed by the German-Turkish producer Yunus Cimen.

On the front cover of the single you can see a portrait of Lea alongside the artist name and song title. It just shows them up from the shoulders. There are two versions of this front cover. In the acoustic version, she wears a black top against a blue background. The remix version also has a black top against a pink background. The photography comes from the Berlin photographer Jens Koch.

Publication and promotion

The first publication of To you done as a promotional single on May 25, 2018. The promo single was released only in its album version as a single download. The official single was released around a month later on June 22, 2018 as download and streaming . Here, however, not the studio version , but an acoustic version was published. On August 3, 2018, a remix version made by the Latches production team was released as a single track. The following month, Zu dir was released as part of Lea's second studio album Between My Lines . About you was published under the music label Four Music , distributed by Sony Music and published by Duende Songs Musikverlag, Schwerelos Edition, Sony / ATV Music Publishing and Universal Music Publishing .

To promote the song, there was a live performance in the ZDF TV Garden on Tour on October 14, 2018.

The music and the text were written and composed jointly by Lea-Marie Becker (Lea), Mark Cwiertnia (Mark Forster), Michael Geldreich and Alexander Knolle. The music video for Zu dir premiered on June 15, 2018 on YouTube . The video begins with Niklas (played by Marco Lude), who is driving his car and calls his answering machine . He receives the following message: "Hey, tell me, do you know how Max is? I haven't heard from him in two weeks. Get in touch ". Then he wants to visit someone, but he stands in front of a locked door. As he drives on by car, he meets his friend Max (played by Béla Gabor Lenz ), who is on foot. Niklas greets Max, who reluctantly takes him in his arms. Niklas grabs Max's bag, throws it in the car and asks Max to come with him. Niklas tries to grow up with Max, but Max doesn't respond. A short time later he takes him to a houseboat , which they take to leave. Sitting there together at the edge of the boat, they come closer again for the first time. After a while, more friends suddenly appear on the boat and surprise Max. They celebrate together into the night before the video ends alone with Max and Niklas, sitting together in a bay at dawn. In the last scene Lea joins the two of them. In between you can see scenes of Lea running through a forest and singing the song. The total length of the video is 3:19 minutes. Zu dir reached position 54 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 21 weeks. In addition, the single was placed in the iTunes daily evaluations for several weeks and reached its highest chart listing on September 20, 2018 at position twelve.

With this, Lea reached the German single charts as an interpreter for the third time after Wohin du want ( Gestört aber GeiL feat. Lea) and Leiser . As a writer, it is the fourth chart success in Germany after Der Himmel rans auf ( Stereoact ), Wohin Do you and Leiser . For Cwiertnia (Mark Forster) this is the 15th chart success as an author in Germany. Geldreich reached the German single charts for the sixth time with Zu dir and after Blau ( Amanda feat. Sido ) and Cool ( Felix Jaehn feat. Marc E. Bassy & Gucci Mane ) for the third time as a producer. For Knolle, it is the second author's success in the German charts after Leiser .

Awards for music sales

In January 2020, Zu dir was awarded a gold record in Germany for over 200,000 units sold. For Lea it is already after Where do you want to go , Leiser , Immer Wenn wir sehn us (with Cyril ) and 110 ( Capital Bra & Samra feat. Lea) the fifth single which reached at least gold status in Germany.
