Blue is a song by the German rapper Amanda , in cooperation with the rapper Sido , who is also from Germany . The piece is the third single from their second studio album Karussell .

Creation and artwork

The song was written jointly by Christoph Bauss ( Shuko ), Mark Cwiertnia ( Mark Forster ), Michael Geldreich, Sido Gold ( Sido ), Jules Kalmbacher and Amanda Nenette Murray ( Amanda ). The piece was produced by Forster and Geldreich. The single was released under the music label Four Music and distributed by the Freibank Musikverlag , the Rückbank Musikverlag and Universal Music Publishing .

On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to artist name and song title - only Amanda's upper body can be seen with her gaze turned to the side, against a turquoise background.

Publication and promotion

The first publication of Blue was made as a download single on April 21, 2017. The single is available as a single download and 2-track single. In addition to the duet by Amanda and Sido, the latter includes a solo version of Amanda. In order to promote the song, there was a live appearance at the VIVA Top 100 .

The lyrics to blue are written in German. The music was composed by Amanda, Mark Forster, Michael Geldreich, Jules Kalmbacher and Shuko, the text was written by all composers and Sido. Musically, the song moves in the realm of rap and pop music . The tempo is 96 beats per minute . The piece is built up on two stanzas. Amanda sings the first verse. This is followed by a bridge and the chorus , both of which are also sung by Amanda. The second stanza is rapped by Sido. The second stanza is followed by a repeating refrain.

In terms of content, blue is about overworked and stressed people who want to break out of their daily routine. They are annoyed by everything and just take some time off or go “blue”. Furthermore, other people are encouraged to follow suit, since it is actually the thought of all of us. Four Music himself described the piece as an homage to blue making and laissez-faire . In an interview with Bubble Gum TV , Amanda revealed that blue was one of the first pieces created for Carousel . It was her situation; she made “blue” about her job as a radio presenter, she had no money, but somehow “it was okay”.

Music video

The music video for Blau was shot on two days from May 20-21, 2017 and premiered on June 7, 2017 on YouTube . You can see Amanda, who is sitting in her kitchen at the beginning and talking to a friend on the phone. The friend is on her way on vacation and Amanda mentions during the conversation that she is " broke " and cannot go on vacation. After the phone call, she first looks at holiday pictures on her mobile phone before deciding to hang up a cloth in her bedroom and use it as a kind of green box . In the following scenes, Amanda and Sido can be seen singing in different summer clothes in front of different landscape impressions. At the end of the song, Amanda unhooks the sheet and falls on her bed while taking a deep breath. The total length of the video is 3:06 minutes. As with the previous singles I can't sleep and my wife again Kim Frank directed . To date, the music video has over 23 million views on YouTube (as of April 2020).

Blau reached position 30 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 20 weeks. The piece was able to place itself in the daily evaluations of the German iTunes charts for several weeks and reached the highest ranking with position 39.

For Amanda it is the first chart success of her career. Sido reached the German charts as a solo artist for the 52nd time with Blau . For Forster as an author, this is the 13th chart success in Germany. As a music producer, it is Forster's eighth chart success in Germany. For Kalmbacher as an author it is the fifth chart success in Germany, as well as the third as a producer. Geldreich reached the German single charts for the fifth time as an author and for the first time as a producer. For Bauss it is the twelfth chart success in Germany.
