DFB Cup 2017

On May 27, 2017, Fischer sang a medley of breathless through the night and heart quake during the half-time break of the 2017 DFB Cup final between Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt . The performance lasted a total of eight minutes, during which it was whistled mostly by Frankfurt supporters in the Berlin Olympic Stadium . Sometimes she also had to endure insults like "Shut your mouth". Despite this scandal , Fischer ended her performance “professionally” by thanking and saying goodbye to the audience at the end of her performance. While those in charge of the ARD broadcast the entire appearance, the colleagues from Sky Germany went into a commercial break. When asked by Focus Online , those in charge at Sky announced that they had a lot of advertising bookings for the half-time break anyway. Even without a whistle concert, Fischer's performance would not have been shown in full. The ARD was said to have regulated the sound during the appearance. However, those responsible denied this.

The trigger for the Pfeiffkonzert on the part of the fans was, on the one hand, the commercialization of German football. On the other hand, many Frankfurt fans assumed that Fischer was a supporter of BVB. The reason for this speculation was that Fischer sang for the team at the end of the season after the 2013 UEFA Champions League final . On the Facebook page “Traditionsvereine” it was announced in advance that the approximately 30,000 Eintracht supporters present would give their anger about the performance audible air. Among other things, innkeepers in Frankfurt are said to have promised free beer should Fischer not be heard on TV because of loud whistles. The whistles went not only against Fischer, but also against the DFB. Due to the commercialization, the supporters of both parties joined forces shortly before the start of the game and sang the exclamation “Scheiß DFB” for minutes. In the BVB fan block was a banner with the inscription "War to the DFB" to read.

Reactions

In an interview with the Sportschau Club immediately after the DFB Cup final, Fischer himself said the following about the situation: “I'm not a proven Dortmund fan. I'm pretty neutral, I have to say. And I honestly kept my fingers crossed for both teams with all my heart. ”She also noted the following:“ I noticed that there was a bet going on. There's free beer for the whistles against me, I have to say, the bet won. Now the hosts have to take action, free beer for everyone ”. In an interview the following evening with Thomas Gottschalk on his show Mensch Gottschalk - That Moves Germany , she said: “A musician may have to go through this. I've got such a thick skin in the last few years and since yesterday my hair has grown too. ”She perceived the whistle as“ concentrated testosterone power ”. She couldn't be really angry with the football fans. She didn't find it that bad at all. She didn't refer to the whistles of the football fans on her own either. There was a grudge, they didn't want entertainment.

In an interview with Sky Sport News HD, DFB Vice President Rainer Koch came to the conclusion that Fischer's half-time appearance was not the “optimal decision”. The week before they were of the opinion that the fans thought it was great, that maybe it was a little naive. Now they would have noticed that it was probably not the right thing this Saturday and they will learn from it and may not repeat it.

Eintracht Frankfurt's sports director Fredi Bobic didn't think much of the vocal performance and gave the following statement: Something like that has no place in the cup final because "we" play football. The true fans of football don't feel like it at half-time.

Fischer's partner Florian Silbereisen posted the following humorous post on Facebook as a reaction to the whistles : “At the weekend I was at a huge hit party in Amsterdam ! Take a look, Louis van Gaal ... so there are Schlager fans among footballers. ”He uploaded a picture of himself together with van Gaal.

“Heart quake - let's live, we want to experience something!
Heart quake - forward, heart, let it shake, shake!
Heart tremor - let's lift through the ceiling,
heart tremor - let's live, let our bodies talk!

Tear yourself away, I want to float,
towards you, heart quake - let's live!
Come and tear yourself away, yes we have found each other,
our souls are connected! - Heart quake! "

- Refrain, original excerpt

The lyrics to Herzbeben are written in German. The piece was written by Lukas Hainer and Stephanie Stumph , the latter, together with Thorsten Brötzmann and Alexander Rethwisch, was also responsible for the creation of the compositions. Musically, the song moves in the field of hit and pop music . Brötzmann and Roman Lüth can be heard as instrumentalists on the keyboard.

The song is built on two stanzas, a bridge and a chorus between the stanzas and the bridge, and one at the end of the song. According to Stumph, the content is about portraying women as "strong, sexy and life-affirming - a woman who knows what she wants".

Reviews

Markus Brandstetter from the German online magazine laut.de awarded the overall product Helene Fischer two out of five stars and came to the conclusion in his review that Herzbeben was just a “ Tagada number” with an annoying refrain and “creaking” bass. The lines of text "And I take your hand, I have to keep dancing / I forget my mind, the horizon is getting wider." He describes as controlled " hedonism ".

Christopher Sennfelder from the German-language e-zine Plattentests.de only awarded two out of ten points for the album, with Herzbeben serving common clichés . The piece is a symbol of the sterile German mainstream pop, which does without surprising chord changes. He also comes to the conclusion that the listener only has to surrender to the "Uffta-Uffta-Rhythm" to a heartbeat .

Wolfgang Wendland from the German punk band Die Kassierer rated the album Helene Fischer and Verglich Herzbeben with the German singer-songwriter Ina Deter for Bild , only without "any hint of emancipation ".
