Merry Christmas everywhere
Merry Christmas everywhere! is a German-language Christmas carol .
history
According to popular sources, the song is said to come from England in the 19th century. However, no original English text is known. The German text is occasionally attributed to August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben . However, the poem cannot be traced in the works of Hoffmann.
The oldest verifiable version to date can be found in a German-language songbook with the title Liederlust und Psalter , which Heinrich Liebhart compiled in 1882 for use in Methodist Sunday schools and families and which was published in Cincinnati .
In 1885 it is known in Germany and is considered a song "that is sung with glee in cheerful children's circles at Christmas time". In 1896 a sentence by Rudolph Palme was published as No. 5 in his opus 64 Christnacht und Weihnachten . At the beginning of the 20th century, the song found its way into numerous German-language school song books and thus became very popular. Translations into other languages are not known.
The song was arranged for numerous instruments , preferably for school and home music , etc. a.

text
"Merry Christmas everywhere!"
Is the sound of joy in the air.
Christmas tone, Christmas tree,
Christmas scent in every room!
"Merry Christmas everywhere!"
Is the sound of joy in the air.
That is why everyone agrees
in the cheering tone,
because the light of the world comes
from the father's throne.
(Refrain)
Light on a dark path,
you are our light;
because you lead those who trust you,
too blissful rest.
(Refrain)
What the rest of us did,
be done for you, so
that everyone must confess that the
Christ Child came for me.
(Refrain)
