Köhlerliesel (original spelling : Köhler-Liesel ) is a German popular hit . Karl Theodor Uhlisch (1891–1958) from Braunschweig composed it in 1923 as a “marching song” and wrote the lyrics. In 1957, Erich Storz changed the melody of the chorus in consultation with Uhlisch and published the song with commercial success for the first time. Uhlisch was inspired to write the song during his stays in Altenau in the Upper Harz Mountains . It was published by the music publisher EKB (E. Krause, Braunschweig). Harth Musik Verlag in Leipzig had previously published the song in 1952 without naming the author in a composition by Albert Kranz (1879–1953). It was first published in 1953 in the GDR by Herbert Roth and his group on amiga shellac with the same copyright information (No. 1 30 204-A; Matrize AM 1701).

The song was sung in 1957 by the group " Die Heimatsänger " and was at the top of the charts for four weeks. It was later interpreted by numerous musicians, such as B. from the Reisinger siblings , from Alfons Bauer , Will Glahé , Renate and Werner Leismann , the fair musicians , Tony Marshall , Paul Biste as well as Marianne and Michael .

Köhlerliesel has also been translated into other languages:

The content of the lyrics consists of the expected set pieces of folk music. A young charcoal burner and at the same time the scenic beauties of the Harz are sung from the perspective of a man in love .

The song is also part of the score for the Austrian Heimatfilm Hohe Tannen (1960), which was originally published in Austria under the title Köhlerliesel . In the film, the song is sung by Gerlinde Locker .
