International Standard Musical Work Code

The International Standard Musical Work Code ( ISWC ) is a unique identifier for musical works (according to the ISBN ). It corresponds to the international standard ISO 15707 .

history

The ISWC was developed by the Confédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Auteurs et Compositeurs (CISAC) in order to adapt the exploitation of rights to compositions to the challenges of the information society. The first ISWC number was given in 1995 for the song Dancing Queen by ABBA (T-000000001-0).

The registration of the ISWC is administered by GEMA in Germany, by AKM in Austria and by SUISA in Switzerland .
