Paul Biste

Paul Biste (born September 4, 1925 in Karbitz ; † October 15, 2012 ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician ( alto saxophone , clarinet , arrangement , composition ).

Live and act

Biste learned the piano and clarinet as a teenager in Breslau. After completing his military service, he played in Munich in 1946 in the Gamelan Combo and other groups, in 1948 he worked with Joe Wick . Between 1949 and 1952 he was part of Kurt Edelhagen's orchestra , with whom the first recordings were made. He then worked as a freelance arranger and musician in Frankfurt, where he performed with Fritz Schulz-Reichel , among others . In 1965 he moved to Cologne, where he also directed his own studio orchestra, with which he recorded several albums in the pop field. He also accompanied musicians such as Heino , Olivia Molina , Peter Kraus , Paola and the Hellberg Duo . He arranged in the field of light music as well as jazz. According to Jürgen Wölfer , some of his compositions and arrangements are considered "milestones in early German big band jazz" for Edelhagen.
