Karl Franz Freiherr von Wachtendonk (born October 5, 1668 - † December 22, 1731 ) was provost of the cathedral in the prince-bishopric of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Karl Franz Freiherr von Wachtendonk grew up as the son of Anton Arnold von Wachtendonck zu Germenseel (1623–1689) and Anna Theodora von Wendt zu Holtfeld together with his brothers Hermann Adrian and Bertram Anton and his sister Maria Anna in an ancient noble family .

Career and work

Karl Franz studied in Angers , and received in Munster a Dompräbende after John Sigismund Adolf Bertram von Nesselrode avoided had. The revolt to the Wachtendonk, Wendt and Nesselrode families took place on December 18, 1679. In the same year he also became canon in Osnabrück. He ran unsuccessfully in the election of the Osnabrück bishop in 1698, which Karl of Lorraine was able to win. 1706 the election of the bishop was due in Münster. This was connected with conflicts. From September 25, 1727, Karl Franz was also a secular court judge . His election as Provost fell on November 23, 1729. The term of office did not last long, because he died on December 22, 1731.
