Hermann Arnold Adrian von Wachtendonk-Germenseel (* 4. January 1666 ; † 3. September 1702 in Alzey ) was a baron , imperial chamberlain and Electoral Palatinate Burggraf or bailiff .

origin

He came from the old Geldrian noble family of the Lords of Wachtendonk and was born as the son of the Catholic couple Anton Arnold von Wachtendonk (1683–1689) and Anna Theodora von Wendt zu Holtfeld .

His brother Bertram Anton von Wachtendonk († 1720) was the commander of the Austrian Deutschmeister regiment and an imperial field marshal lieutenant .

The uncle, Hermann II von Wachtendonk († 1704, brother of the father), Johanniter Grand Prior , acted as tutor of the later Palatine Elector Johann Wilhelm .

Life

Hermann Adrian von Wachtendonk, Lord of Groesbeek and on Germenseel , officiated under Elector Johann Wilhelm as Elector Palatinate Burgrave of Alzey and / or as Oberamtmann there. He was also an imperial councilor and chamberlain , as well as a privy councilor in the Electoral Palatinate.

He died in Alzey in 1702 and was buried in the collegiate church there; where his tombstone is preserved. The regional historian Johann Franz Capellini von Wickenburg also recorded the epitaph in his compilation Thesaurus Palatinus around 1750 .

family

Hermann Adrian von Wachtendonk was since 1692 married to Anna Maria Auguste von Weichs to Rösberg (1667-1706), daughter of the Electoral Cologne Obrist-Jägermeister Baron Ferdinand von Weichs to Rösberg (1624-1679) and his wife Juliana Sophia Adolphina of Morrien to Nordkirchen ( 1625-1670).

Her son Hermann Arnold von Wachtendonk (1694–1768) rose to become Minister of the Electoral Palatinate. With him the sex died out in the male line. His brother Johann Edmund († 1759) was a canon in Münster .

There were also three daughters. Maria Catharina (1699–1739) married Johann Adolph Alexander von Loë (1687–1743), Maria Florentina († 1744) married the noble Alexander Adolf von Blanckart and lived with him at Alsdorf Castle near Aachen , Maria Anna Theodora Regina (1696–1776 ) joined forces with the Elector Palatine baron Ludwig Anton von Hacke (1682–1752), in Trippstadt .
