Groesbeek ( listen ? / I ) was a municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland and has been a district of Berg en Dal since January 1, 2015 . The village of the same name and partly the village of Berg en Dal - namesake of the municipality - as well as the villages of Breedeweg , De Horst and Heilig Landstichting belonged to the municipality of Groesbeek . Groesbeek lies on the hilly compression moraines of the Lower Rhine Heights , so that the local area is up to 90  m above sea level. NN reached. The town of Berg en Dal north of the village of Groesbeek was built around 1750 around a hostel of the same name on the Nijmegen-Kleve road, which describes the left high bank of the Waaltal . On January 1, 2015, Groesbeek merged with Ubbergen and Millingen aan de Rijn to form a new municipality, which was initially also called Groesbeek, as Ubbergen and Millingen had significantly fewer inhabitants. In a referendum, however, the majority of the population chose the name Berg en Dal, which has been the official municipality name since January 1, 2016.

The National Liberation Museum , since 2019: Freedom Museum , deals with the liberation of the Netherlands by the Allies from the German occupation between July 1944 and May 1945. The exhibits include original uniforms, weapons, propaganda materials and the like from both sides. The Canadian war cemetery Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery with a war memorial also commemorates the fighting from this period .

In the Generaal Gavinstraat there is a monument in memory of US Lieutenant General James M. Gavin .
