history

Saint Laurentius Church Kekerdom

Kekerdom was with a small fortification on the border of the Roman Empire near the Nijmegen and cattle camps . The Franconian village of Cachritheim or Kekerteim was built around 800, initially with a chapel at the site of today's church. It belonged to the splendor of Spaldrop , which from 1247 was subordinate to the Count, later Duke of Gelderland . In 1445 he leased it to the Duke of Cleves . In 1609 and 1701 it came with the Duchy of Brandenburg and the Kingdom of Prussia as an exclave with the neighboring town of Leuth. The Congress of Vienna awarded it to the Netherlands, which was implemented in 1817 in exchange for Schenkenschanz . At first it belonged to the municipality of Beek , which came to Ubbergen from 1818 . The municipality Berg en Dal was created through merger and renaming in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

  3. Also Spaldorp : Where the "Hof Spaldrop" currently stands in Kekerdom, the aristocratic house Spaldorp used to stand. The oldest evidence of Spaldorp (Spaldrop, Spa (i) rop) can be found in the Lorsch Monastery , a gift from Ida to the abbey in the fifth year of the reign of Emperor Arnulf , from the end of November 891. The goods are in the Düffel: in Leuth, Kekerdom , Spaldrop ("Spelthorf"), Bimmen , Niel and Beinheim (near Keeken ). 1338 is the first mention of a castle that began to deteriorate in the 17th century.
