Bimmen is a district of the city of Kleve , district of Kleve and has around 170 inhabitants on an area of 209 hectares .
history
According to archaeological findings, Bimmen was already settled in Roman times; Due to the immediate location of the place on the Rhine , the settlement has partially relocated. In 891/92 Bimmen is mentioned for the first time as the property of the Lorsch Monastery . A pastor was first mentioned in Bimmen in 1242. The Martinus Church, the current construction of which mainly dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, consists in parts of older tuff stone masonry . In the Middle Ages and in the early modern period, Bimmen belonged to the Düffel office . From 1800 it belonged to the Keeken Office, from 1945 to the Cattle Office. In 1969 it was incorporated into Kleve. The parish was dissolved in 2005 and merged with the parish in cattle .
Bimmen is still closely related to the neighboring Dutch town of Millingen .
