Wardhausen is a district of Kleve , the district town of the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1969 Wardhausen was an independent municipality .
geography
Wardhausen is a street village on the western bank of the Spoy Canal . The Brienen district of Kleve is directly opposite on the other bank of the canal . The double village consisting of Brienen and Wardhausen is known colloquially as Spoy . The former community Wardhausen had an area of 2.4 km².
history
The history of Wardhausen can be traced back to the Carolingian era. Since the 19th century Wardhausen formed a rural community in the mayor's office Griethausen (since 1928 Amt Griethausen) in the district of Kleve in the administrative district of Düsseldorf . On July 1, 1969, Wardhausen was incorporated into the city of Kleve by the law to reorganize the district of Kleve .
