The Blattuß brothers are a German music group that celebrated great success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, especially with the songs attributed to " Stupid Hits ". In 2017 the group still consists of a duo of Beppo Pohlmann and Kalle Ricken .

Career

The group published their first songs in 1976, with well-known melodies underlaid with funny lyrics. More serious - often melancholy - songs were added later. The LP Bla-Bla-Blatt Schuss , which was released in 1978 and consisted exclusively of his own compositions, received widespread attention. The song Kreuzberger Nights was in the German single charts for 24 weeks .

The success of the song led to Germany-wide fame. For example, the song is used today to characterize a mathematical function that is supposed to describe economic processes.

The group had numerous appearances on radio and television, such as in the ZDF hit parade . In 1979 they took part in the German preliminary decision “ Ein Lied für Jerusalem ” for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Ein Blick says more than any word, composed by Ralph Siegel , and took twelfth and last place (ironically, the preliminary decision won with the song Dschinghis Khan the group of the same name is also a composition by Ralph Siegel).

In the following years, other titles were produced that also hit the charts. By the mid-1980s, the group released six albums. Then it became quieter around her. In 1988 Beppo Pohlmann continued the group as a duo with the musician Kalle Ricken . Since then it has mainly appeared as a show act at parties and company celebrations and continues to perform with acoustic guitar and mandolin on theater and cabaret stages. Several singles were released and the last two albums in 1993 and 2002.

Deviating from the spelling rules that were in force in Germany until 1996, the group regularly, but not always, used the spelling “Blattschuß” instead of “Blattschuß” on their record sleeves and often completely dispensed with capitalization. Beppo Pohlmann explains the name in an interview as "a kind of shorthand for our program", " b eliebte L ieder, a nspruchsvolle T exte, T num, S how C omedy, H umor u nd s beautifu l S mood".
