List of open source computer games

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list contains computer games whose source code is open. A distinction must be made between free games, semi-free games (commercial use restricted), free and public domain computer games. In addition, not all open source games are automatically free, for example if the source code is available but is under a proprietary license or the source code is free but the artwork is proprietary.

Graphic games

Desktop games

In contrast to graphic games, desktop games usually only run in a small window and optically match the desktop environment used.

Browser games

Browser games usually do not require a separate installation on the client computer, but are installed on a web server and operated using a browser. This list only contains games for which the full server version is offered for installation.

  • Legend of the Green Dragon is an online role-playing game in which you bring a character to life and then let them fight the green dragon.
  • Qingu is the open source project for the browser game NovaWars. It's about directing the fate of a planet that you get at the start of the game. To do this, it is necessary to erect various buildings, conduct research and build ships.
