information Paradroid - clone

Freedroid Classic is a free arcade game for Linux , Windows , Sharp Zaurus, and macOS . It is a reprogramming ( clone ) of the computer games Paradroid and Paradroid 90 , the first release dates from 2002. The game is under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Gameplay

The aim of the game is to free a fleet of spaceships from malfunctioning, aggressive robots by destroying them or taking control. The game principle is the same as with the prototypes, but expanded setting options are introduced:

  • The input devices mouse , keyboard and joystick can be used and individually set up for control.
  • Screen resolution, full screen display and volume are adjustable.
  • Information can be displayed or hidden individually, for example the energy level of your own robot or text messages that other robots give out when you approach them.
  • The appearance can be changed with three "themes":
    • Classic looks like the original Paradroid for the Commodore 64 .
    • Para90 looks like Paradroid 90 for the Commodore Amiga .
    • Lanzz :
Freedroid with the theme "Lanzz" and activated robot messages

Development history

The game originally appeared under the title Freedroid and is called that in the game itself. The addition “Classic” was subsequently introduced to distinguish it from a follow-up project, the computer role-playing game Freedroid RPG .
