Stratagus is a free game engine for real-time strategy games . It runs on many operating systems such as Linux , BSD , BeOS / Haiku ( ZETA ), AmigaOS (requires a PowerPC expansion card and WarpOS ), MorphOS , macOS , Solaris and Windows .

Stratagus offers the possibility to play against the computer. Playing against other players on the Internet is only possible with the same operating system and the same architecture due to the faulty implementation and is made more difficult by frequently occurring synchronization problems. All the basic elements of a strategy game are supported: collecting resources, training residents to become specialists and developing technologies and of course measuring your own acquired skills with your opponent.

Games based on Stratagus

Wargus

Wargus , formerly FreeCraft , is a Warcraft II implementation from which Stratagus emerged. Stratagus allows a contemporary support of graphics by means of a higher resolution and sound and many useful extensions. The computer opponent has not yet reached the level of the original DOS computer opponent, but this is softened by the fact that with the restrictions mentioned above, games against human opponents are possible over the Internet in high graphic resolution. A DOS version of Warcraft II is required for operation, as Wargus does not provide graphics and sounds.

Stargus

Stargus is a port of StarCraft , which is currently still in the alpha phase.

Battle for Mandicor

Battle for Mandicor is set in the Middle Ages and is also still in the alpha phase.

Bos Wars

Bos Wars , formerly the Battle of Survival , is set in the future and is fully functional. The strategy game brings a number of single player cards as well as a campaign with 10 cards. In the campaign, the player must liberate a capital and defeat the opponent in the process.

In the game the player has to collect two types of resources: energy (via power plants) and magma (via pumps), these are collected in the vault (up to 100 energy and 20 magma). Multiple vaults can also be built to store more. The Vault also recruits Engineers (builders). This makes it an important building in the game.

Another building is the training camp, which can recruit engineers and 3 different types of soldiers.
