Krzysztof Wojciechowski (born September 18, 1956 in Warsaw ) is a Polish author .

Wojciechowski was born in Warsaw as the son of Franciszek and Halina, b. Rymszewicz, born. There he attended the 191st elementary school from 1963 to 1970. This was followed by the Zygmunt-Modzelewski-Gymnasium, in which extended German lessons were offered. After graduating from high school in 1975, he studied philosophy and sociology at the University of Warsaw . He passed his diploma in 1979 with distinction, the topic of his diploma thesis was: "Morals and Politics".

Career and honors

On October 1, 1979, he began his work at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Warsaw University. In 1989 he received his doctorate on the subject of “Interest and Need as Points of Reference in the Ethics and Value Theory of Marxism” . He continued to work for the University of Warsaw until September 1991, after which he received unpaid leave until 1997.

In 1991 he moved to Berlin and worked for the Frankfurt (Oder) city ​​administration for the coordination of international relations in the founding office of the European University Viadrina . From May 1993 he was head of the International Office at the Viadrina . From October 15, 1994 he was the administrative director responsible for the organization of the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice , a joint institution of the Viadrina and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan . To this day he is the administrative director there. He has lived in Frankfurt (Oder) since 1997.

In October 2001 he became editor-in-chief of the scientific series of the Collegium Polonicum and one year later coordinator of the European Science Center of the Viadrina at the Collegium Polonicum. Wojciechowski is the co-founder and long-term chairman of the board (2003-2014) of the “Fundacja na rzecz Collegium Polonicum” (Foundation for the Collegium Polonicum) and founder of “My Life - told contemporary history e. V "(2004).

In 2005 he was presented with the Brandenburg European Certificate from the Prime Minister of Brandenburg Matthias Platzeck . In 2012 he received the Medal of Merit of the European University Viadrina . With a declaration of August 3, 2013, the Polish President Bronisław Komorowski awarded Krzysztof Wojciechowski the Silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland for his services to the development of science and cross-border cooperation. In addition, he was honored with the title of Personality of the Year of the Słubice District (2016), Personality of Poland's 15-year membership in the EU (2019). He also received the Poznan University Medal 100 Years Celebration (2019).

Krzysztof Wojciechowski was born in 1978–1999 with Eva. But married. The children of the marriage were: Pia (* 1981), Pascal (1984–1984) and David (1985–2018). Between 1997 and 2005 he was a single father. From the second marriage (2005-2016) with Monika geb. Sękiewicz he has two children: Julia (* 2007) and Melchior (* 2008).

Trivia

In his function as director of the Collegium Polonicum, Wojciechowski is considered to be the source of ideas for the world's first Wikipedia monument . The reason for his initiative he gave: “I am ready to kneel in front of Wikipedia. For this reason I thought of a monument where I could do that ”.
