Dark Oberon is a free (under GPL ) real-time strategy game similar to Warcraft II. In contrast to other computer games, the graphics and textures are based on photos of real models made of plasticine . This and Lealoo's music create a unique atmosphere. The game started as a programming project by some students at Charles University in Prague .

The still missing AI does not yet allow games with computer opponents. However, there are simple maps available, in which, for example, certain objects or enemy camps must be searched for. Computer-generated players are completely dispensed with here. Future multiplayer maps promise even more excitement at the moment. The cards are currently being created in a code that is very much based on XML . It is planned to write the maps entirely in XML in the future.

Although little has changed in game development since 2006, the game has been revised in a few " portable " versions, for example for removable media . For example at Framakey . and Lupo Pensuite . Since the game is actually portable by itself, it is mostly an automatic integration into a corresponding menu system and the folder structure on the data carrier concerned.
