Digital Paint Paintball 2 is an open source first person shooter based on the Quake 2 engine and a PC implementation of the paintball game . Accordingly, the teams shoot each other here with paintball markers and paintballs .

Structure of the game

In the game, two or a maximum of four teams usually compete against each other. In contrast to normal first-person shooters, the teams here shoot each other with paint balls and markers. In the game, the usual game modes in first person shooters are possible, i.e. Capture the Flag , King of the Hill , Deathmatch , Team Deathmatch , Pong (soccer) or Siege. A game usually lasts 20 minutes or until a team has reached 50 points. For capturing the flag there are usually between 2 and 5 points, for "marking" all team members of the opposing team there is one point. After the end of the game, the map is changed.

Maps, markers and accessories

There is now a very large pool of maps (approx. 900 maps) for Paintball 2, which can be downloaded from the Internet.

There are various models to choose from for the markers, which are either available at the start of the game or have been distributed on the map and must first be collected. PGP, Tracer, Stingray, VM-68, Spyder SE, Carbine, Autococker and Automag are available for the markers. While it is unfair to some players to snatch the markers from under their noses, most players prefer the marker carbine or autococker due to the rate of fire and precision. In addition to the markers, there are also hoppers or ammo boxes in various designs, as well as CO 2 tubes and barrel reinforcements for the markers, which have an influence on precision, duration of fire and rate of fire. In addition, smoke and color grenades are sometimes available on the maps, which facilitate a tactical approach.
