UFO: Alien Invasion is a free turn-based tactical game on open source basis.
Development and game mechanics
The development of this game was inspired by the UFO series " X-COM " by Microprose . Like this one, it combines a macroscopic game component on the globe with tactical battles in an isometric perspective . For them it also offers multiplayer via LAN and Internet. In contrast to the original X-COM games, a real 3D engine is at work, a heavily modified Quake 2 engine . This does not offer a fully destructible terrain, but freely rotatable and zoomable views and other effects.
The engine is completely open source, the source code is under the GPL . Most of the game data is also under the GPL or a similar free license. However, some game data (textures) still exist with an unclear origin, but it is a declared goal of the developers to clarify this as soon as possible. The game is available in different languages for Microsoft Windows , Linux and Mac OS X.
action

Here new buildings are built, technologies researched, weapons produced and many other things done that are necessary to stop the invasion. As soon as you are reasonably equipped and the first alien attacks are reported, these will be displayed on the world map. The PHALANX can go to the scene of action to save the civilians from the aliens, which may a. is extremely important for the satisfaction of the donor nations.
