Trevante Rhodes

Trevante Nemour Rhodes (born February 10, 1990 in Ponchatoula , Louisiana ) is an American film actor .

Life

Trevante Rhodes was born in Ponchatoula near New Orleans in the US state of Louisiana . When he was four years old, his parents separated. At the age of ten, he and his mother moved to Dallas , Texas , where she worked as an accountant for an oil and gas company. Rhodes later received an athletic scholarship due to his special athletic talent and attended the University of Texas at Austin . As a sprinter , he specialized in the 100 and 200 meter courses and was able to achieve major sporting successes in these disciplines. When the US squad took part in the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago in 2009, Rhodes helped his team to a gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In his senior year at college, Rhodes said, he jogged topless around campus, where a casting director saw him and offered him a role in a movie.

Film career

After graduating Rhodes moved to Los Angeles , California , where he quickly for smaller supporting roles in the film Weightless by Terrence Malick , the short film Open Windows with Elijah Wood , in Eddie O'Keefe film Shangri-La Suite and The Night is Young Matt Jones and Dave Hill was booked. In the television series If Loving You Is Wrong , Rhodes got the role of Ramsey. Rhodes received other roles in the television series Gang Related and Westworld .

In the movie Moonlight , Rhodes took on the role of the main adult character, a homosexual who grew up in Miami and who spent his whole life in the process of finding an identity. The film was screened at the Telluride Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016 . Rhodes, who is straight in real life, had gays among his circle of acquaintances, and this closeness to queer subculture helped him prepare for his role and identify with the character he played. In IndieWire's 2016 Critics Poll, Rhodes emerged as one of the best supporting actors .

In the film Burning Sands by Gerard McMurray , which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival , Rhodes took on the role of Fernander.

In the planned film Horse Soldiers by Nicolai Fuglsig , Rhodes was given an unknown role. The film is based on a true story in which US soldiers fight the Taliban in Afghanistan.

On January 5, 2017 it was announced that Rhodes a role in the movie The Predator by Shane Black takes over, which is to be released in the 2018th

In addition to his work as an actor, Rhodes also worked as a model for Calvin Klein 's spring 2017 men's underwear collection .

In late June 2018, Rhodes became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
