Stephen Gilchrist Glover (born June 13, 1974 in Wimbledon , London ), known as Steve-O , is an American stuntman , action artist , actor and author . He is mainly known through the MTV series Jackass and its film offshoot . When these were discontinued, Steve-O started the MTV series Wildboyz with his Jackass colleague Chris Pontius .

Life

Stephen Gilchrist Glover was born in Wimbledon , London . His father is American and his mother is from Canada. When Glover was six months old, his family moved to Rio de Janeiro , Brazil, when his father became the chairman of PepsiCo Brasil . He spoke his first words in Portuguese as he was raised mainly by Brazilian domestic workers. When Steve was two years old, the family moved to Caracas , Venezuela, as his father became the head of PepsiCo's South American markets.

He learned Spanish through kindergarten in Venezuela. When he was four, the family moved to Darien, Connecticut, USA. When Glover was six, his father was a CEO of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and the family moved to Miami . At the age of nine, Glover's father became chairman of RJR Nabisco Inc. through a merger of two companies . As a result, the family first moved to London and then to Toronto in Canada for three years .

When Steve was 13 years old, the family moved back to London. During this time he attended the American School in London. After four years in high school, Glover moved to Florida and attended the University of Miami . From 1996 to 1997 he went to the University of New Mexico . He then worked as a circus clown , among other things , before starting his career as an actor and stuntman at Jackass.

Legal problems and controversies

On July 31, 2002, Steve-O was arrested in the United States for stapling his scrotum to his own thigh in public.

On May 22, 2003, he was arrested in Sweden . In an interview, he claimed to have smuggled cannabis in a condom . When officers searched his hotel room, they found marijuana and ecstasy . After an admission of guilt, he was released on May 27th against payment of a fine of 45,000 kroner (approx. 4,900 euros at the time).

On October 7, 2015, he was sentenced to 30 days in prison and 3 years probation after an animal welfare campaign in which he climbed onto a construction crane in Los Angeles in August .
