Apartment building in a corner and in a semi-open development Lessingstrasse 6

1909 A corner building with a striking urban development and a shop, a clinker composite façade with ornamental framework, formerly with a local grocery store, of architectural and local historical value.

Apartment building in a corner location, formerly with a grocery store on the ground floor, built in 1909 on behalf of the client Meier. Two-storey, natural stone base, clinker composite facade, decorative framework in the roof area. The corner of the house has a polygonal design, where the first floor was originally the access to the grocery store. Unfortunately, the original shop fittings were not preserved. The windows that were once split bars were important for the appearance of the house. The two-storey corner bay window over a polygonal base, which extends from the first floor into the attic, is also important for the appearance of the house. The house is closed by a gable roof, the bay window by a Welsche hood. The house shapes the image of the street with its high quality design and dominant location. Due to its good original condition, the house impressively documents urban construction around 1900, which was influenced by Art Nouveau and “Swiss style”, among other things. The long-standing grocery store was obviously very well known in Flöha. The monument value is derived from the preceding, from the city-historical, architectural and urban-planning value of the house. (LfD / 2012).

Residential stable house Wehrstrasse 10
(map)
around 1700 Upper floor half-timbered, of importance in terms of building history and house history.

The stable house was built around 1700 and probably extended in the 18th century with a barn annex on the gable side and subsequently massively undercut. This information is based on comparative estimates of the building stock. The two-storey half-timbered building with a massive, brick-built ground floor (probably later massive undercuts in the 19th century) and a half-timbered upper floor is completed by a gable roof. Important design features of the ground floor are the window frames made of Hilbersdorfer Porphyrtuff and the door portal, which can be assigned to the construction phase at the beginning of the 19th century. The upper floor has a half-timbered construction, characteristic of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, with flattened head struts and a row of bars. The half-timbered construction of the subsequent barn extension is characterized by pegged struts. The proportions of the windows and their arrangement were retained on both floors of the stable house.

As is characteristic of central German stable houses, the building is originally a three-zone (four-zone due to the barn annex), transversely divided, open on the eaves. Its interior has been preserved in its original good condition. To be mentioned would be z. B. the original room structure. The original stock of the building still includes the central corridor with a natural stone paving on the ground floor, the stable with a simple wooden ceiling, the central corridor and a short chamber corridor with board doors on the upper floor, the wooden stairs between the first and upper floors as well as the original roof structure: a collar beam roof with a simple standing chair, the wooden connections of which were realized by means of leaves.

A special feature is the barn extension, which was obviously built at a later date, which is comparatively seldom to be found in this landscape area. Such house forms are more common in the Upper Ore Mountains. This extension is also two-storey, it was built as a half-timbered building on the ground floor as well as on the upper floor, only the base area on the eaves side was made of solid stone. Significant changes in this cultivation cannot be determined. For example, the wooden tennis decking as well as the stairs and the roof structure have been preserved. # The stable house stands at the eaves on Wehrstrasse, one of the old village streets that belonged to the former village of Plaue and ran parallel to Zschopau. Behind this building is the old Plauer mill. Due to its arrangement to the street (on the eaves side directly on the Wehrstraße) and the lack of any side buildings, it must be concluded that this building is a former gardener's house. This is further supported by the fact that the lands behind this stable house originally belonged to the "Kluge Gut", later Sattelgut (before that, the Vorwerk of the Erdmannsdorf manor). As a result, there was never an economic possibility that farms could develop on the left side of the Zschopau. As early as the 16th century, however, buildings can be recognized on drawings by Matthias Oeder in the same place. As a result, there was already a settlement of gardeners' property at this point in time. It is said that with the exception of the church and rectory, all buildings in the villages from which Flöha emerged were destroyed. On the one hand, it is historically proven that the aforementioned residential stable is one of the oldest still existing residential buildings in the city of Flöha. This also makes it clear that the stable house in Wehrstr. 10 was probably the home of a gardener's estate. This is the only way to explain the unusual barn extension and the eaves of the house parallel to the Wehrstrasse. Due to increasing industrialization in the course of the 19th century, the structural evidence of the former village of Plaue disappeared with a few exceptions, to which the house described belongs. Thus, the stable house is not only a building and social history testimony to village living and economic conditions in the 18th and 19th centuries, but also a testimony to the town's history.

As already mentioned, this house is one of the few remaining village buildings from the 18th century that have been preserved in Flöha, especially in the area of the former village of Plaue. Due to its design and its good original condition, it illustrates in an excellent way the living and economic conditions in the Saxon village of the 18th and 19th centuries. This results in its architectural history (house history), town history as well as local and social history, which it due to its good original condition owns.

Saxon postal mile pillars (totality): Post mile pillar (Map) 1722 Quarter milestone, important in terms of traffic history.

Copy of a quarter milestone with the row number 25, the year 1722 and the post horn applied in gold and the initials "AR". The stone consists of Hilbersdorfer Porphyrtuff and originally stood on the Poststrasse Dresden – Freiberg – Oederan – Chemnitz – Zwickau – Hof. He was moved a few meters. In 1971/72 it was restored by the PGH Bauhütte Karl-Marx-Stadt. In 1722, the Electorate of Saxony began to erect the Saxon post-mile pillars. Elector Friedrich August I wanted to build a modern traffic and transport control system in the electorate in order to promote trade and economy. He entrusted Magister Adam Friedrich Zürner (1679–1742) with the implementation. The system of post mile pillars comprised distance pillars, quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars. The distance columns should be set up in the cities in front of the city gates, later only on the marketplaces. Quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars were set up along the Poststrasse. They received a consecutive numbering (row number), starting from the beginning of the measurement. The all-mile columns were set up outside the cities on the post roads at a distance of 1 mile (= 9.062 km). The distance pillars were marked with the monogram "AR" for "Augustus Rex", the Electoral Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian double coat of arms and the Polish royal crown. The full mile, half mile columns and quarter milestones were all similarly labeled, none of them had a coat of arms, but the monogram "AR". The distances were given in hours (1 hour = ½ post mile = 4.531 km). This mile system was the first European traffic management system. The pillar considered here is of great importance in the history of traffic as part of the nationally significant postal system. Row number 25, year 1722, post horn and initials "AR" applied in gold, Hilbersdorfer Porphyrtuff.

1895 three-arched, of importance in terms of building history and technology history.

The approximately 42 m long bridge spans the Flöha with three stone arches of 10.5 m + 10.8 m + 10.5 m clear width. The two pillars, 2.05 m wide, are 86.1 gon oblique to the river. The vaults are designed in the shape of a basket arch in hammer-right layered masonry. The entire masonry consists of a green-gray colored hornblend slate with a few sprinkled gneiss stones from local occurrences in the vicinity. The pillars are highlighted on both sides by semicircular templates up to the height of the arches. The simple structure is characterized by solid craftsmanship and harmonious design and has a significant impact on the townscape. When the bridge was rebuilt in 1993/1994, the roadway was widened and made with 1.25 m wide caps on both sides. As design elements for the rebuilt bridge, the pillar templates were implemented through small pulpit-like parapets in the overhang. The bridge crosses the state road 237 and passes under the Flöha.
