Cottage Am Kirchberg 1
(map)
around 1840, partly older Traditional half-timbered house, boarded up on the upper floor, of significance for the townscape and building history, standing near the church.

Two-storey cottage property, rebuilt around 1830/40 with the inclusion of an older roof structure, which was originally part of the barn on this property. This barn used to belong to the church school and was sold around 1840. Judging by the building findings, the new owner tore down the barn and built a new half-timbered house with a solid ground floor on the property, which possibly had a barn and stable part (not clearly verifiable). The roof structure consists of three parts, with the presumably older section placed in the middle of the building. This roof structure could have been part of the old barn. This cannot be documented. On the ground floor, the building was made of rubble stones all around and plastered. The half-timbered structure on the upper floor is also homogeneously assembled and has boards for better weather protection. A historical photograph shows that this is a single-frame framework without struts. The house is accessed in the middle of the eaves side. The living room adjoins the middle corridor on the right. Opposite the house entrance in the hallway was the kitchen, which was not originally separated from it by a wall. Traces of soot and the arrangement of the old forge confirm this assumption. At the side of the kitchen was a room that probably served as a pantry. The kitchen and bathroom are now located on the ground floor to the left of the hall. Originally a stable and a coach house could have been located in this area. There is also a central corridor on the upper floor, which today is connected to rooms and chambers. Here, too, a partition wall in the left part of the house indicates that parts of the upper floor may have been used as salvage rooms. Today, despite slight structural changes, the house essentially documents the building stock at the time it was built in the early 19th century. This makes it an impressive testimony to the rural building trade and the living conditions of the cottagers at that time, from which the building and socio-historical value of the house is derived. (LfD / 2015).
