Water tower Altmittweida 915d
(map)
1896-1898 Architecturally remarkable building dominating the surrounding landscape, Intze I support floor tank, of importance in terms of supply history, largely original, renovated, in operation.

In 1896 the city of Mittweida commissioned the architect Johann Nepomuk Bürkel, who taught at the city university, to plan a waterworks with an associated water tower. An exposed altitude slightly outside the city limits was selected, from which the 39 meter high clinker brick building as a symbol of Mittweida characterizes the landscape. Since its commissioning in 1898, the water tower has been integrated into the city's water supply to this day. The quarry stone masonry of the basement, the cantilevered water tank and the conical roof decorated with a lantern, hipped dormers and weather vane give it a defensive tower-like character in a historicist manner. The shaft of the tower is brick-facing and only structured by small arched windows. Above it, a narrow, stepped clinker cornice conveys to the hollow of the cantilevered container floor, the compartments of which are decorated with a diamond pattern made of red and black bricks. A 1500 m³ steel support floor tank of type Intze I was installed as the water tank. Due to damage to the cladding, the container was clad in corrugated iron in the 1970s. During the last renovation in 2005-07, this cladding was removed in favor of a design with flat clinker elements that approximated the historical appearance. Due to its exposed location, the Mittweidaer water tower shapes the landscape. It is also an important testimony to the early urban water supply from the end of the 19th century and for this reason is of importance in terms of building and technology history. (LfD / 2017)

Cylindrical tower, base clad in quarry stone, arched portal with keystone, above it in brick walled shaft, structured only by narrow arched windows, above a cornice wide, all-round projection, structured by diamond pattern, water reservoir today clad in corrugated sheet metal, a flat, inclined, conical roof with a small top crowns the tower , Clinker brick facade, technical equipment inside, prepared for a museum. Corrugated iron cladding removed in the course of the renovation in 2005–2007 and replaced by cladding with flat clinker elements.

Residential stable house, side building, gate entrance and paving of a former four-sided courtyard Hauptstrasse 71
(map)
1752 A building ensemble that is significant for the townscape and has a defining, architectural and socio-historical significance.

Residential stable house: two-storey longitudinal building, regular half-timbering on the upper floor, during renovation the windows that were too large were returned to their original dimensions, high hipped roof with slate covering, gable now again with ornamental slate, despite renovations in the period after 1945 to around 1990 the building remained essentially original - so the room structure and the roof truss.

Side building: two-story longitudinal building with half-timbering on the upper floor - slated again today, gable roof and large central dormer with gable roof.

Both buildings were fundamentally renovated and expanded into residential buildings, with the majority of the original structure being retained. The window frames were replaced with new porphyry stones. The renovation of both buildings was carried out while preserving the historical appearance based on historical photographs and pictures.

Courtyard paving: The historic paving of the courtyard, made of river pebbles, was preserved, albeit partially damaged.

Gate entrance: between the stable house and the former side building, the historic gate entrance, consisting of masonry gate pillars made of exposed bricks and wooden gates, was preserved.

Barn: Half-timbered building newly built in 2006 with a solid ground floor. The cubature of the new building probably corresponds to the demolished previous building, but there are serious differences in the choice of building material, the spatial structure and the construction method. This means that the building does not have any structural or social historical significance. However, the building is important for the townscape. However, this does not establish a monument value that is always linked to historical significance. The copy of the farm building is therefore not a cultural monument.
