The Drachenkopf, also called Kannelberg, located in the pottery forest between Nassau, Hermsdorf and Holzhau, with its 805 m is counted among the highest peaks in the Central Saxony district. As early as 1869, at the time the surveying pillar was erected, it belonged to the then Royal State Forest and is now completely forested.
The pillar, made from Niederbobritz granite, was worked on by the local stonemason Böhme and transported to the installation site for 33 Reichstaler and 7 Groschen. The column cover is completely preserved and firmly attached to the pillar. It is a single stone, which, as usual in the "Niederbobritzscher" version, tapers slightly upwards and has a small shoulder. On the upper edge of the northwest side the pillar has broken out slightly. The inscription "Station / DRACHENKOPF / der / Kön: Sächs: / Triangulirung / 1869" is on the north side of the column and is still well preserved and legible. A height bolt is attached to the west side of the pillar and is also in good condition.
