The totality includes the development along the "alley". At the suggestion of Helene Dorothea v. In 1785, Schönberg on the Limbach manor, began to build a "workers' settlement" for the stocking weavers from Köthensdorf. For this purpose, the so-called old Schenkfelder were divided into 36 construction sites. The lane was built on one side with 36 houses and about 1.5 km in length. A few buildings have been preserved in their original form and have been designated as individual monuments. The other buildings were changed or overbuilt.
