Reception building

The Reitzenhain – Flöha railway was opened on August 12, 1875, but Hetzdorf did not yet have its own station. When planning the Hetzdorf – Eppendorf narrow-gauge railway , the Hohenfichte station about 1.7 km to the south was initially intended as a connecting station . Since the main flow of traffic on the narrow-gauge railway would lead in the direction of Flöha and on to Chemnitz, an unnecessary detour would have been created. Therefore, in the narrow Flöhatal valley , they were looking for sufficient building site for a new station, since a continuation of the narrow-gauge railway to Flöha was not possible. About 1.2 km down from the point where the narrow-gauge railway met the standard-gauge railway, a suitable point was found near the Hetzdorf viaduct . Despite about 12,000 Mark higher costs compared to an integration in Hohenfichte, the construction of the Hetzdorf stop near Oederan was favored.

On October 17, 1892, the tender for the construction of the narrow-gauge railway was started, the Chemnitz company Findeisen und Hildsberg was awarded the contract, construction began at the end of November / beginning of December 1892. Initially, only the planum was made and work on the station building, the first tracks were built Relocated in March 1893. The construction of the goods shed began in the same month and the single-track, single boiler room was not built until April 1893. All buildings were completed by August 1, 1893 at the latest. The buildings were either made of pure brick or half-timbered construction with brick lining. The opening of the narrow-gauge railway and the Hetzdorf near Oederan stop took place on November 30, 1893.

Initially, eight turnouts were installed in the narrow-gauge section, 15 turnouts and two crossings between standard and narrow-gauge sections in the standard-gauge section. Goods and coal sheds and the scales could be used by three-rail tracks from both gauges. Reloading was made easier from 1895 by a gantry crane. In 1900, the systems were supplemented by a combined trolley / trolley pit, the only one of all Saxon narrow-gauge railways . In 1900/01, the track systems of the narrow-gauge section were also expanded to make operation easier. After that, only minor changes were made; the station essentially remained in this form until the narrow-gauge railway was closed. The boiler house has been used as a car workshop since 1907.

Initially only operating one stop, Hetzdorf was upgraded to a station in 1905. The station was only connected to the water network in the 1930s; before that, the water supply had always been a problem. Also in the 1930s, a class Kö II shunting locomotive was stationed in Hetzdorf, for which a separate locomotive shed was built. The shunting locomotive was used until the narrow-gauge railway was closed.

On November 6, 1967, passenger traffic and on January 1, 1968, goods traffic on the narrow-gauge railway were shut down. As a result, the station lost its importance enormously. At the same time as the narrow-gauge railway was dismantled, some standard-gauge tracks were removed.

The goods shed was demolished in 1994, the narrow-gauge heating house is still there. In the reception building there is also an EZMG signal box that is still occupied . The station itself had form signals until 1992, now the German State Railroad's Hl signals.

Today the station is still used as a crossing station by the Erzgebirgsbahn , access to the trains is provided by two outer platforms, and there is also another passing track.
