history
In 2014, STX Entertainment was founded by film producer Robert Simonds with the support of Bill McGlashan, Managing Partner at TPG Growth . The aim of this “film studio of the new generation” was to finance, produce and also distribute eight to ten star-studded films per year.
In 2015, STX Entertainment entered into a contract with the Chinese production company Huayi Brothers to co-finance additional films from 2016 onwards, which would allow STX Entertainment to produce around 12 to 15 films per year.
In addition to producing its own films, STX Entertainment also rents films from other production companies in the US market. The films The Gift , Hardcore and Secret in Their Eyes were awarded.
