Term Life is an American action comedy based on the comics Term Life by authors AJ Lieberman and Nick Thornborrow . AJ Lieberman was responsible for the script and directed by Peter Billingsley .

The main roles are Vince Vaughn , Hailee Steinfeld , Bill Paxton , Jonathan Banks and Jordi Mollà .

Term Life is a video-on-demand production; it premiered in Portugal on April 28, 2016. The Internet premiere was on April 29, 2016. In German-speaking countries , the DVD / Blu-Ray premiere was on November 3 2016.

Nick Barrow plans robberies and sells those plans to the highest bidder. He lives separately from his daughter Cate and her mother Lucy. At the beginning of the film, Lucy goes to a rehab clinic and leaves their daughter at home alone. Nick has no contact with his daughter, but watches her over the years and solves some problems before they can have a negative impact on her future life.

Jimmy Lincoln tips Nick on a lot of cash at the County Court House . He then works out a plan for how the robbery works best and sells it to Allejandro. The attack succeeds perfectly, no one is harmed and the thieves retreat to their hiding place. There, corrupt police officers lurk around Joe Keenan and kill them and destroy the stolen money, as this can be used to prove what they were doing. To avenge the death of his son Allejandro, his father Victor Vasquez, a notorious South American cartel boss, travels to the United States.

Harper, Nick's best friend, informs him that Allejandro was killed and who his father is. Nick then goes to an insurance agency to take out term life insurance. He pays all costs immediately. However, he must remain alive for the next 21 days for the insurance to be paid out to his daughter.

Vince Vaughn secured the film rights for the comic adaptation of Term Life 2013. At the same time, Peter Billingsley was announced as director. The film was to be produced by Universal Pictures and Wild West Picture Show . In October, Universal canceled the co-financing. The rental should continue to run through Universal. After the end of Universal, QED International and Worldview took over the co-financing of the film. In addition to PalmStar Media Capital , the WWE Studios went into production.

The film received mostly negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic . The rating achieved 2.1 out of 10 possible points for Rotten Tomatoes and 23 out of 100 for Metacritic. The most positive review came from Noel Murray of the LA Times with 40 points. For him the film is "... perfectly serviceable - but ultimately unmemorable."
