Bedhead is a fantasy - short film in 1991 by director and co-author Robert Rodriguez. The film was produced while Rodriguez was a student at Austin , Texas University . He made the film with his brother David Rodriguez, his sisters as actresses and his family and friends as a crew. The film won cash awards which Rodriguez used to aid in a production for his first feature film, El Mariachi .

action

Rebecca is a young girl who is always picked up by her older brother David, who is known for his terribly uncombed hair.

David is always a bit stubborn. He eats a cockroach at breakfast and makes a big mess with his cereals . After breakfast, Rebecca is about to go play with her dolls when she sees that David has disfigured them.

Shaken, she tries to fight David, falls and unfortunately hits her head. When she regains consciousness, she notices that she now has telekinetic powers. At first, she thinks her new powers could create an advantage in humanity, as reflected in her becoming the first woman president of Mexico . However, she decides to take revenge on her big brother first.

Overwhelmed by her strength, but still unable to straighten his irrepressible hair (Original: Bedhead ), she grabs the boy behind her on her bike, but she falls on her head one more time. She wakes up in a hospital and decides that as long as David doesn't know, she will never use her skills again.

background

Bedhead was a student project by Robert Rodriguez while he was a student at the University of Texas. He was a director, cameraman , film editor and wrote the script with his brother, David, and a friend, Bryant Delafosse. Rodriguez also animated an animated title sequence for the short film.

His brothers and sisters starred in the film, including his younger sister Rebecca and brother David as the main characters. His youngest sister, Maricarmen Rodriguez, portrayed Rebecca's little, fashion-obsessed sister, dubbed "Fashion Monster", while Elizabeth Rodriguez played a hospital nurse .

Family and friends worked as a crew, co-writers Delafosse and David Rodriguez were described as "dolly grip" in the credits.

The film was shot on 16 mm black and white film. The film was then transferred to "3/4" video tape. Because Rodriguez didn't have the equipment to shoot with "Sync Sound", there is no dialogue between the people in the film, but a "voiceover narration".

Bedhead is included as a bonus DVD with the film El Mariachi and the MexiCollection .

reception

The Internet Movie Database gave the film 6.7 / 10 points.

Jason Adams called Bedhead , in a review of the Mexico Trilogy DVD, a small, creative film (original: "a creative little flick" )
