action
On October 1, 1989, under mysterious circumstances, 43 children were born: their mothers were not yet pregnant that morning. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an "eccentric billionaire", made it his mission to track down as many of these children as possible because he saw their extraordinary potential, which ultimately manifested itself in superpowers. He was able to adopt seven children and train them in his “Umbrella Academy”: Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Fünf, Ben and Vanya. As an adoptive father, his behavior towards the children was cool, which was reflected in the fact that he only addressed them by their numbers. Only their "mother", a female android that Hargreeves only built for the purpose of looking after the children, gave them their names.
characters
Sir Reginald Hargreeves: An eccentric billionaire with a mysterious past who practically buys children from their mothers. He suspects that they have extraordinary abilities and trains them to become superheroes. However, his relationship with them is downright cold and harsh. He kills himself in order to bring the children back together, who have turned away from him as adults and also alienated from one another, because he believes that only as a team can they prevent the coming apocalypse.
Luther / Number 1: The leader of the previous team with superhuman physical strength. He is the only one who stays with Hargreeves after the others escape until he is badly injured in a fight and his father transforms him into some kind of great ape to save his life. As a result of this decision, Hargreeves sends him to the moon, where he remains alone for four years. After his death, Luther had to realize that this trip was in no way serving scientific knowledge, but that his father only wanted to send him as far away as possible because he could not bear to see him. He was in love with Allison in his youth but has never had a girlfriend. He's also the first to question Hargreeves' death and suspect a crime.
Diego / Number 2: The cynical Diego is an excellent fighter and master of throwing knives - with them he always hits his target. While all the other members of the Umbrella Academy have turned their backs on crime, he continues to patrol every night. Its scars are evidence of many battles. He also has a previous relationship with Detective Eudora Patch , who is not enthusiastic about his activities as a lawless vigilante.
Allison / Number 3: She has the power to hypnotize people with her voice by sending the words "I heard the rumor ..." ahead of her orders. However, because she used this ability on her daughter, her husband divorced her and she lost custody. She is a famous movie star, although it is doubtful whether she honestly acquired any of her roles.
Klaus / Number 4: Klaus can talk to the dead, but because this ability always frightened him as a child, he numbs himself with drugs to block his powers. Nevertheless, Ben, his dead brother, is his constant companion, which he has kept secret from his other siblings for years. Later he tries to accept his power and to get clean and thereby finds out that there is another hidden power slumbering in him, with which he brings the dead to life or projects them back onto earth as a hologram. The hologram dead, like humans, can do anything.
Five / Number 5: It's a teleporter that suddenly disappears and can reappear in another location. When he was thirteen, he quarreled with Hargreeves, who refused to allow him to jump through space as well as through time. He does it anyway and gets stuck in a post-apocalyptic future in which he spends 45 years. After he was hired by the commission - an organization to monitor the flow of time - and he had successfully completed many assignments for them, he travels back against the will of his boss to prevent the apocalypse and meets his now adult siblings. Although he is actually an old man, he reappears in the present in the form of a boy.
Ben / Number 6: Ben had the ability to grow demonic tentacles from his chest that could take out all of his opponents. However, he died during a mission under previously unexplained circumstances. He appears as a ghost that can only be perceived by Klaus.
Vanya / Number 7: She has thought for years that she is the only one of Hargreeve's adopted children who has no special ability. As a result of her childhood, which was marked by rejection and lovelessness, she takes medication every day to calm her nerves. She is a virtuoso violinist, but discovers in the course of the series that she also has superpowers (telekinesis).
