John Magaro (2012)

John Magaro (born February 16, 1983 in Akron , Ohio ) is an American actor .

Life

Magaro grew up in Munroe Falls , a suburb of Akron. He has a brother four years older than him. His parents, who were both teachers, separated when Magaro was 13 years old.

Magaro was already interested in acting as a teenager. He performed skits and appeared on a radio show he initiated at summer camp.

In the mid-2000s he moved to New York City and appeared in first short films. After supporting roles in numerous film and television productions, he took on the lead role of Alex in Wes Craven's horror film My Soul to Take in 2010 . In 2012 he starred alongside James Gandolfini in David Chase 's first feature film Not Fade Away . This was followed by roles in films such as Unbroken and Carol . Since 2015 he played the character of Vince Muccio in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black . In the same year he received a leading role in the Oscar-nominated literary adaptation The Big Short . For this role, he and the rest of the cast received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award in the Best Acting Ensemble category .

He is engaged to Janice Hong and lives with her in New York City.
