In May 2016, Allen announced that post-production was over and that there would be no further season of the series. The date of the first broadcast was announced as September 30, 2016.

In May 2015, Allen described the process of producing the series as "very, very difficult" and stated that he regrets every second after he agreed to Crisis in Six Scenes . He has no ideas and isn't sure how to start as the series is his first TV production.
Casting
In January 2016, it was announced that Woody Allen , Elaine May and Miley Cyrus would lead the show and filming would begin in March. In February 2016, John Magaro and Rachel Brosnahan were confirmed as additional actors. Then Michael Rapaport , Becky Ann Baker , Margaret Ladd , Joy Behar, Rebecca Schull, David Harbor and Christine Ebersole joined the cast in March 2016 .
